from the press release:
"Italy's ONQ joins the orphan parade with a 6 song album of lo-fi pop ala Hood."

review from BLOW-UP, Italy, 2002:

ONQ - Dasein Ohne Leben
(8 out of 10 rating)

Luca Galuppini, also known as ONQ, surrounds himself with a band this time to give birth to his Lo-fi-Anti-Ballads, but the music doesn't change. They are still songs that behind their supposed simplicity hide those tiny movements imperceptible to the human eye, sudden temperature changes and thin abysses that made the former record, 'The Supreme Weight', such a little huge surprise.

Little remains (in this record) of his former noisemaker and improvisational past career (only in the coda of 'I ruin Myself'), but you can feel immediately that his keys are just seemingly subdued and that it took them so much strength to hide exposed nerves.

'Melara', 'The Valley', 'Nail me tonight', and 'Lament 2002' tell us that the new "roomy-music" takes a minimal look to the gimme indie-rock imagery (more at Hood than at Pavement) and to post-rock sensitiveness, and takes more inspiration from some new wave and psychedelic music or simply from the background noise of every story.

It is a good sign not to be able to name bands or music to make comparison with ONQ music because this means this record has "personality".
